Cat Eyes:

  • Pencil Eyeliner
  • Liquid/Gel Liner
  • Mascara
  • Q-tips (optional)
  1. Starting from the inner corner, line your top lash line with a pencil liner. Choosing one that glides on easily will make your life a LOT easier. I am using MAC’s Pearlglide Liner in Black Russian here.
  2. As you approach the outer corner, make the line thicker and flick it upwards, extending it past the outer corner of your eye. Be sure to taper it unless you are going for a “modern” look as spotted at the DKNY Fall 2009 show.
  3. Go over the line with a liquid or gel liner for maximum lasting power and color. I swear by MAC’s Fluidline in Blacktrack. This is what it should look like when you are done.
  4. Repeat on the lower lash line . Make sure the two lines join each other at the outer corner.
  5. Clean up any mistakes or smudges with a Q-tip or a makeup remover pen. L’oreal’s Clean Artiste Makeup Corrector Pen is perfect for this.
  6. Curl your lashes, apply a few coats of mascara or a pair of fake lashes on the top to complete the look.

Here are some tips to applying concealer:

  1. Always moisturize your face before applying concealer. It will make the application much easier and your finished look will be smoother and better blended.
  2. Start by primeing the eyelids with your concealer before your eyeshadow application. Use a brush and cover the whole eyelid with concealer. Take a sponge and then blend. You don’t want any lines. A pencil concealer will provide good coverage and go on smoothly.
  3. Make sure to remove any eyeshadow droppings from under your eye before you start the next step of covering blemishes and dark spots. Lower your chin and look up in the mirror to find any shadows on your face. Look for dark areas under eye and around nose. Using a pencil concealer you can basically just color around the dark areas. Color all the way under eye up to lashes. Make sure to Blend well. Use a sponge lightly to press in the concealer. Remember the spots around the edges of your nose and also the bridge. Putting concealer on the bridge will bring light to the center of your face.
  4. After you’re done with the concealer, you can apply the foundation. If any dark areas are still present after this application you can apply more concealer for better coverage. Another secret is to apply a little more concealer under the eyes to give an extra little pop.
  5. Never rub your concealer. It’s best to pat or dab. A concealer brush is also great for getting into smaller areas and providing a more natural coverage.

If you are struggling with your complexion or would just like to have a flawless makeup applied look. You need to be using concealer. It’s one of the best kept secrets in the makeup industry and will hide most of our imperfections so we don’t have to be embarassed by our looks.
